Graveney School Performing Arts Centre

UPB have been commissioned to produce a feasibility study for a new Performing Arts Centre at Graveney School, exploring how the existing site could be reorganised to create a coherent and ambitious ‘arts campus’. The study considers how the school’s music and drama provision could be significantly enhanced while maintaining the character and heritage value of the site.

The proposals centre on the sensitive refurbishment of the Grade II listed Furzedown House and Orangery to accommodate a new music department, including specialist classrooms, ensemble spaces and small performance rooms. A complementary new extension is proposed to provide much-needed additional teaching space, practice rooms and instrument storage.

The study tests the viability of a new standalone building with 400 seat auditorium and drama studios at the northern edge of the site, designed for use by both the school and the wider community.
